Nxt Round is a Tulsa 501(c)(3). We provide the headsets, the equipment and the coaching so schools, gyms and community programs can run boxing for people who were never able to take part.
Boxing builds confidence, coordination, balance and belonging better than almost anything else. It has also been closed to most of the people who would benefit from it most, because it involves being hit.
Schools will not run it. Insurers will not cover it. Disability boxing is not currently recognized or approved for contact competition anywhere, which means athletes with disabilities have never had a real route into competing. And parents of a child who is already struggling are understandably reluctant.
Non-contact virtual reality boxing removes that objection completely. There is no impact and no injury risk, so it can be delivered in a classroom, a community center or a gym. Because the platform scores automatically and adapts to the participant, disabled and non-disabled people take part in the same session, on the same equipment, under the same rules. Inclusion becomes a property of the activity rather than a separate program running down the hall.
Our stated exempt purpose is providing equipment and personnel to assist boxing and other fitness programs for at-risk students and people with physical challenges, and for people with disabilities including amputees, stroke survivors and disabled veterans.
Non-contact boxing delivered in schools and community settings, mixed ability by design. Addresses youth physical activity, childhood obesity and youth mental health, and reaches children who do not see themselves as athletic. A pilot at Monroe Middle School in Tulsa is our current domestic school site.
Programming for people with disabilities including amputees, stroke survivors, and people with mobility, sensory or cognitive impairments. Delivered under a published rules and divisioning framework with three functional categories and five ability divisions, so competition is fair and meaningful rather than symbolic.
A national adaptive boxing program developed with USA Boxing across sixteen affiliated gym sites in thirteen states, serving 240 to 320 disabled veterans. Three tracks: non-contact fitness boxing, an adaptive pathway under USA Boxing classification, and virtual reality training. Announced publicly by USA Boxing in May 2026.
A non-contact boxing and adaptive fitness program for people living with Parkinson's disease, recognized by USA Boxing as its official therapy-boxing program. Delivered multiple times each week at Engine Room Boxing in Tulsa, Roughhouse Boxing in Oklahoma City and Capistrano Boxing Gym in California.
Nxt Round works through established sport infrastructure rather than building parallel systems. That means certified coaches, existing safeguarding, real insurance, and a competition pathway that already exists.
Removing the contact does not make it less of a sport. It makes it a sport more people are allowed to play.
Aaron Sloan, Executive DirectorAaron Sloan is the founder and head coach of Engine Room Boxing in Tulsa and the architect of the Golden Gloves VR platform. He is certified by USA Boxing as a Coach, Judge and Referee, one of a small number of people credentialed in all three roles at once, and holds World Boxing 1-Star certification. He is licensed by the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission as both a coach and a promoter.
He chairs the USA Boxing eSports Task Force, and serves as President of Oklahoma USA Boxing and President of the Kansas-Oklahoma Golden Gloves Franchise.
He is also a registered Cardiac Nurse and ACLS certified, which is unusual in adaptive sport and is the reason safety design sits at the center of every program rather than being added at the end.

If you run a boxing gym, a school, a veterans organization or a community program and want to talk about what this would take where you are, get in touch. If you would like to support the work, contributions are tax deductible and go directly toward equipment and delivery.
We will tell you honestly whether this is a fit, what it costs, and what it takes to run. Most sites need nothing more than headsets, floor space and a coach.
